Dance Gavin Dance - Post Hardcore Music Sacramento has given the world so much wonderful music. No other band has done more to help create and evolve post hardcore music then Dance Gavin Dance. A band from Sacramento that was founded in 2005, these guys have shown us that some of the most energetic live shows can also produce some of the catchiest songs in existence. Dance Gavin Dance fans everywhere sing along to songs such as We Own the Night, Prisoner, Head Hunter, and the epic song about a battle between Chucky and a Giant Tortoise. They also recently dropped their new album Afterburner which dropped in 2020 and peaked at #14 on the Billboard 200. The music of Dance Gavin Dance is very complex with dynamic changes in song structure. Some songs can sound almost melodic while switching to a completely different sound at the drop of a dime using vastly different vocal styles and structures. DGD has had several vocalists throughout their band's existence contributing to multiple eras of music. However, the band's continued chart topping albums that reach the Billboard 200 further solidify their place as one of the biggest post hardcore bands in existence. They also released Tree City Sessions 2 in 2020.
The Fall of Troy is a progressive math rock band from Mukilteo, Washington, USA, who were formed in 2002 by Thomas Erak, andrew Forsman and Tim Ward. Characterised by their stunning guitar work and energetic live performances, some of their standout tracks include: “F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X”., “Mouths Like Sidewinder Missiles”, “Act One Scene One”, and “I Just Got This Symphony Goin”... A few years back, they took a swing at releasing their album "Mukilteo Meteor" (2020) and their abilities at music seem to remain intact. - “F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X” was released for Guitar Hero III: Winds of Change in 2007. This exposed their music to many new fans and has proven The Fall of Troy to be an influential post-hardcore band, as well as an experimental rock music innovator.
Local heavycore duo Wolf and Bear will be joining a great collection of local musicians at this benefit show. Wolf and Bear is a heavy music group created by lead vocalist Marcus Cisneros and lead vocalist Tyler Watt in 2013. Wolf and Bear music features heavy elements with comedic harmonic vocals. Some of their work includes such songs as “Sight”, “Greyblood”, “Twisted Tongues”, and “Oil Cup”. In 2023 the pair would refine their songwriting and delivery in their album “Bloodletter” which is under Blue Swan Records. Blue Swan Records is a record label founded by Will Swan of Dance Gavin Dance and aims to connect the global Swancore community through catchy songwriting and high energy live performances. So track a wolf and bear!
French metalcore band Novelists round out this list of fantastic albums, bringing a bit of exotic flair to the proceedings. The Paris-based quintet was founded in 2013 by brothers Amael and Florestan Durand, and recently recruited Camille as their new lead vocalist. Fans of high energy moshers will likely enjoy pitting the pit to some of their tracks such as All For Nothing, Prisoner, Smoke Signals and The Light, the Fire which blend together elements of metalcore with a healthy dose of prog. Although the band has not yet received an Independent Music Award, they have certainly been making waves in the underground and have just released what they feel is their best work yet entitled CODA (2025). The band is also currently trying to make a name for themselves in the music world by forming their own record label called ACKOR Music that also includes other bands and members from the Danish metalcore band Landmvrks.
